How We Work

We work holistically, designing environments where spatial, experiential, and technical decisions are considered together rather than in isolation.

MODA operates as a studio-led practice supported by a trusted network of designers, craftspeople, fabricators, and technical specialists. Our core team leads every project from concept through execution, drawing on long-standing relationships with partners around the world to ensure the right expertise is brought in at the right moment — without compromising authorship, quality, or continuity.

This approach allows us to scale intelligently while maintaining a consistent point of view and a high level of craft across architecture, interiors, experiential work, and product-driven systems. All work is directed, authored, and overseen by MODA.

Leadership

MODA was founded by Dustin Malstrom, a architect and creative director with two decades of experience working across architecture, experiential design, and cultural projects.

His work is deeply informed by art and culture, and by a long-standing commitment to responsible, sustainable design — creating environments that are expressive, durable, and mindful of their broader impact. Across disciplines and scales, his focus remains consistent: designing with intention, clarity, and respect for both people and place.

MODA is selective in its work, partnering with clients who value clarity, craft, and long-term relevance. The studio prioritizes thoughtful process over volume and views collaboration as a means to elevate ideas — not dilute them.

MODA is a multidisciplinary design studio grounded in art, architecture, and responsible design.

Our work is informed by a deep respect for art and culture, and by the belief that the most meaningful environments balance expression, restraint, and purpose. Every project we undertake is shaped by an artful sensibility — whether through form, material, light, sound, or experience — and by a commitment to creating work that resonates beyond trends or spectacle.
Sustainability is not an add-on to our process. It is fundamental to how we think about materials, systems, longevity, and impact. We approach design with an understanding of its broader environmental and cultural consequences, favoring thoughtful solutions that are durable, efficient, and considered over time.
Much of MODA’s work lives at the intersection of design and technology. We are particularly interested in making technology feel discreet, intuitive, and human — integrated quietly into spaces, environments, and products in ways that support experience rather than dominate it. When technology disappears into the background, design can lead.
