La Mer

A global influencer experience shaped by place, craft, and ritual

MODA Role

Creative Direction · Spatial Design · Scenic Design
(Engaged by a producing agency)

Context

La Mer hosted a global influencer experience in Hawai‘i—bringing together invited guests from around the world to engage with the brand through place, ritual, and sensory immersion.

Rather than creating a single, centralized event, the program unfolded across multiple locations, each designed to connect La Mer’s identity to Hawai‘i’s landscape, light, and atmosphere.

The intent was not to overlay a branded environment onto the setting, but to work in dialogue with it.

Scope & Contribution

MODA was engaged by Industria Creative, who produced the event, to lead the creative direction and spatial design across the full experience.

MODA’s work included:

  • Developing the overarching creative vision and environmental language for the program

  • Designing the look and feel across multiple activation sites

  • Intentionally leveraging Hawai‘i’s natural landscape as a primary design element

  • Designing custom scenic props and spatial elements tailored to each location

  • Collaborating with local Hawaiian fabricators to build site-specific scenic elements

  • Supporting production and onsite execution to ensure consistency across locations

Each activation was designed to feel distinct, yet part of a cohesive narrative.

Design Intent

The design approach emphasized restraint, tactility, and authenticity.

Rather than imposing heavy branding, the environments relied on natural materials, proportion, and crafted elements—allowing the landscape itself to frame the experience.

Custom scenic pieces were designed to feel integrated rather than imported, reinforcing a sense of place and cultural sensitivity.

Outcome

The multi-location experience delivered an immersive and highly differentiated influencer program—one that felt grounded, intentional, and globally relevant while remaining deeply local in its execution.

By combining authored design with place-based collaboration, the project demonstrated how luxury brands can create meaningful engagement through context-aware environments rather than spectacle.

Attribution

This project was produced by Industria Creative. MODA’s role reflects creative authorship, spatial design leadership, and scenic design within that collaboration.
